White Supremacy Is Back
White supremacy is back. Okay, it never actually left but it’s out of hiding.
White supremacists are no longer meeting in secret locations. They are now loud and proud at political rallies.
White supremacists are no longer wearing hoods to hide their identity. They are posting on social media with their real names and places of employment listed.
White supremacists are no longer bombing churches in secret. No, they are boldly walking into sanctuaries, sitting through bible study, and then opening fire on the congregation. R.I.P. Charleston Nine
White supremacists are no longer kidnapping and lynching Black men in secret. They are driving through incoming traffic to run them down. R.I.P. Larnell Bruce
White supremacists are no longer burning down houses when they feel slighted. No, they are boldly gunning down Black people after car accidents. R.I.P. Deborah Pearl
White supremacists are no longer siccing dogs on protestors. They’re shooting them and leaving them in burning cars. R.I.P. Darren Seals
White supremacists are no longer lynching Black people in the dead of night. They’re shooting them in broad daylight while wearing a badge and then getting paid leave while they “investigate” themselves.
I keep hearing people say that white supremacy is back.
Actually, white supremacy never left.
White supremacy never left because you didn’t stand up to your prejudiced family members at Thanksgiving dinner.
White supremacy never left because in order to avoid integration you decided to move your families into neighborhoods people of color can’t afford.
White supremacy never left because when you got tired of the suburbs you bought up all the property in the inner-city and pushed people of color out. What’s up, gentrification?
White supremacy never left because you are still colonizing people and calling it missionary work.
White supremacy never left because you pretend that you’re color-blind in order to absolve yourself of white guilt.
White supremacy never left because you thought that voting for a Black man proved our country was post-racial.
White supremacy never left because when people of color told you that the police were killing us you didn’t believe it until you saw it on camera.
White supremacy never left because even when you saw the videos of them killing us you still found ways to excuse it.
White supremacy never left.
White supremacy never left because y’all didn’t dismantle it.
White supremacy just wears a badge now.
White supremacy is just LOUDER now.
White supremacy is just BOLDER now.
White supremacy is more ARROGANT now.
