If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve been playing around with the Ninja Blender Duo off and on for a few months now. Back before I was a mom one of my favorite summer treats were fresh fruit smoothies that you can pick up at smoothie shops. I didn’t get them all the time because that price tag builds up on a student budget. Well one summer before we were married, Mr. S convinced me to just buy a blender and make them at home. I went to Target and picked up a cheap one and got started. It did it’s job, but was reaching it’s last blend and we were thinking it was time for an upgrade, so when the opportunity to try out the new Ninja Blender Duo I was so ready. I mean not only did it blend but it also made juice, which is something I really wanted to try but I found the juicer we already have pretty intimidating.
The Ninja Blender Duo is optimized for maximum nutrient and vitamin extraction and pulverizes fibrous vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts to an ultra-smooth consistency. When you open the box you’ll find a 72-ounce pitcher, and 18-ounce, 24-ounce, and 32-ounce Nutri Ninja Cups with Sip & Seal Lids. Everything is dishwasher safe and it retails at 199.99. It also includes a helpful instruction manual complete with recipes.
I’m still learning everything it can do, so I’ve mainly tried juices and smoothies because those are pretty easy. So, what do I think about it?First and foremost, I love that no matter if you choose fresh or frozen fruits/vegetables it can get the job done. I really love the consistency I get from the smoothies without having to stand and hold a button. However, I’ve found that you do have to press the individual buttons several times to get everything all blended. It’s still better than my own blender that resulted in me having to use a spoon to manipulate the fruit that often got stuck in the blades (I turned it off first of course).
I really enjoy there only being two pieces when it comes to making my own juice, but since the goal is maximum nutrient and vitamin extraction the juice can be pretty pulpy even after adding water. If you’re a fan of pulp in your juice, you’ll love it. If you’re not, I recommend purchasing a cheesecloth to pour the juice through before drinking. It’ll get rid of some of the pulp. If there’s one thing I would change, it would be how loud it is when it’s doing it’s job. Sometimes I wake up before Sesame to work out and I’m always afraid to make a smoothie because it just might wake him up before I’m ready. This of course can be alleviated if I just made myself juices the night before, so they’re nice and chilled in the morning.
Overall I’m very happy with my Ninja Blender Duo and look forward to creating new smoothie recipes throughout the remainder of spring and summer. Plus, there’s been some talk of using the blender for frozen margaritas 😉
