I know I’ve been a bit scarce when it comes to posting on here and Facebook. I apologize to those who regularly read the blog, since I know you’re waiting on posts. My delay in posts is due to me working on one of my 2013 goals. At the end of 2012, I decided that I needed to find a hobby outside of family and school, so I decided to start crocheting again. You may remember me posting about it here. Well after making a few things and posting them on Facebook quite a few people suggested I start selling things. Initially, I was flattered and just took them as compliments, but then more people started saying it. Ironically, I’ve been trying to figure out how I can turn something I love to do into a business and this was right in my face.
I decided to make a few things for some of my sisters and friends to gauge their reaction before taking the plunge. Favorable reviews rolled in and these were not people who bite their tongues lol. So, this past Monday, January 21st I officially opened my store, Hook Smart, on Etsy. I’ve already made four sales and an inquiry about two custom orders. It’s exciting and scary at the same time, but so far I’m pretty close to my first goal, which was to make back the money I spent to get started.
My Etsy store will focus on modern crochet accessories for women, babies, and nerds. I will be working on adding more merchandise to the store over the coming weeks, so if there’s something that interests you send me a message and I’ll see what I can do. In the meantime, here are a few things to expect in the coming weeks along with Kindle/Nook covers and wrist warmers.
How are you 2013 goals coming along? If you want to keep up with my Etsy store, you can follow Hook Smart on Facebook.
