I’m sorry for the lack of posts, but shortly after my last update I started having what I thought was an allergic reaction to the pain medicine from the surgery. It really turned out to be the onset of Bell’s Palsy, yet another condition related to postpartum and pregnancy.
WebMD explains Bell’s Palsy as “a paralysis or weakness of the muscles on one side of your face. Damage to the facial nerve that controls muscles on one side of the face causes that side of your face to droop . The nerve damage may also affect your sense of taste and how you make tears and saliva. This condition comes on suddenly, often overnight, and usually gets better on its own within a few weeks. ”
They put me on a shortpak of steroids and a week of antivirals that do not effect my ability to nurse Baby S. It’s been 2 weeks since my visit to the neurologist and 1 week since I finished the medicine and I’m finally feeling better. Plus, I can blink my right eye more now, which means I can be on the computer a little more without my eye hurting.
I promise to update you all soon… I have to share my first travel experience w/ Baby S. Lookout for a “Wordless Wednesday” this week 🙂
