Have you seen the Gogurt commercial where the son reminds his dad to put one in his lunch because mom is gone, and they break out in the “snack time and lunch” song and dance. That commercial is one of my son’s favorites even though I don’t think he’d ever had a gogurt the first time he saw it. He just liked the fact that they talked about snack time because that’s his favorite time, so when Fresh Baby Products reached out to me about possibly reviewing a few of their items I jumped on the chance.
I chose three of their “snack-oriented” products– popsicle maker, snack cup, and pop maker/snack pouch. All their products are made with sturdy yet pliable silicone and are BPA free.
Sesame was super excited to receive the package in the mail and immediately asked for the snack cup. He’s no stranger to them, but this one was much more sturdy and solid than previous ones we’ve owned. If you’re not familiar with snack cups, they’re great for allowing your child to control their own snack intake without a large mess happening. I like to fill them with snacks like cereal, granola, or fresh fruit. It’s also one of my staples for traveling (more on that in a future post).
After his nostalgia with the snack cup wore off, Sesame asked me about the other two items. I introduced the popsicle maker first because we live in Georgia and popsicle season came early. I told him we were going to make our own popsicles using frozen fruit and juice. This was supposed to be recorded, but someone hid my phone’s tripod that day. We mixed approximately two cups of frozen strawberries, mangos, and pineapples with about a cup of orange juice into they were smooth and then poured them into the container. I let Sesame help with putting the fruit and juice in the blender and then putting the tops on the popsicles. Of course, he wanted them right away, but I told him we had to wait until after dinner. You can’t tell by the look on his face, but he loved them. You see the green stem? It’s like a personal drip tray for slow popsicle eaters, which means his hands don’t get sticky. Definitely plus for me, but I also liked how easy the maker is to clean. You can just stick it in the dishwasher with your regular dishes. Easy peasy.
I like experimenting with different recipes on my own, but if you need more guidance Fresh Baby has a lot of recipes right on their site for you. Check them out here
The last product we tried was the snack pouch/pop maker. Since we already made popsicles, I decided to use it as a snack pouch first. I filled it with craisins and place the lid on securely, which isn’t very hard. Sesame was able to do it on his own later. I thought the popsicle maker was going to be my favorite of the three items, but turns out the snack pouch/pop maker won. Why? Because it’s small enough to fit comfortably in any purse I own AND I don’t have to worry about snacks spilling inside my purse. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve reached in my bag for an ink pen and pulled out cheerios instead.
