Today was Sesame’s first day of soccer. They had their skills assessment and were put on teams. At the end, they do this thing where all the kids get a chance to kick the ball in the goal (sometimes they move it) and everyone makes it and cheers. Well when it was Sesame’s turn he kicked it in an awkward that meant it didn’t go in the goal. The director cheered and said yay and so did the parents, but Sesame stood there confused because he KNEW he hadn’t done it. A few more kids went and I saw Sesame standing next to the director tapping him on the leg asking for another turn. This time he really did get it in and the smile on his face was priceless.

I get the thought process behind every kid wins, but I also understand the importance of kids learning to keep trying until they get it. We’ve been working on that at home lately and I’m glad that he did it outside the home too.
