Summer is definitely over, which means that Mr. S is back at work. I’ve been trying to get into a groove for the past two weeks and so far we’re doing pretty well. In the mornings, we do a little learning and then I let him play organically. I’ve been trying to keep the tv off and just using music in the background instead.
For a few days, I used a plan of one new letter a day. So, he gets to color the letter and then we identify words that start with that letter.
On this day I decided to just spend some time playing guess the letter, and he did it for a little while, but quickly took over on his own. He would pull a letter out and see if I knew it. Of course, I would hesitate and then he would answer it all excited. Eventually he just wanted to dump them all out and I let him play alone with them.
A few minutes later, I noticed he was mumbling to himself and I saw this:
I’m happy that he enjoys learning, but he’s still only 2 and I don’t want him to feel so restricted. He has the rest of his life to be in school and follow a curriculum, so right now I’ll let him just go with the flow.
This week I’ll be working on making flash cards for him and coming up with some cool art ideas.
How are you getting your little ones ready for preschool?
