I know my last dissertation update seemed pretty sad, but I’m happy to report that I’m slowly pulling myself out of the slump. I’ve read through ALL the comments from my advisor and slowly started making my way through the revisions and editing process. I also realized that I need to do a bit more reading, and per my advisor’s suggestion, I picked up a copy of Writing Centers and the New Racism.

You might have seen me post this picture and caption on the Mamademics fan page yesterday:

Sesame just brought me this and said “watch da Care Bears mommy.” I almost said no because I let him watch PBS this morning, so I could get some cleaning done and laundry folded, but I realized that this will give me an hour to read the essay my advisor recommended, so Care Bears for him and reading for mommy. It’s not ideal, but it’ll work for today.

I actually made it through her recommended essay and now i’m going through and skimming to determine what else is useful. I’m not sure yall want me to bore you with the details of my topic just yet, so I’ll refrain.

Oh and I FINALLY started a Facebook group for Mamademics. While the fan page is open for all interactions, the group is specifically for “mamademics.” The requirements are as follows:

First, you must hold a graduate degree or be currently enrolled in a graduate program. Second, you must work for the academy in some facet (professor, admin, etc). Finally, you MUST be a mom or currently pregnant. I may open the group to those TTC in the future, but right now these are the requirements.

If you’re interested in joining, request to join here and then inbox the Mamademics fan page with your “credentials.”

P.P.S. I owe you all a vlog, but yea my hair needs to be tamed and I’m so not in the mood lol.
