Back To School: First Big Boy School Shopping Trip
I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for OshKosh B’gosh. I received an OshKosh B’gosh gift card to thank me for my promotion.
Since I started Mamademics, back to school posts always focus on me and how I’m preparing to juggle teaching, writing, and mommy/wife life. This year is a bit different. Sesame starts preschool in a week and a half, which means that I’ve gone from creating a workable schedule for myself to preparing travel options; going back to school shopping; planning lunches; and finding ways to juggle three schedules. We talked travel in my last post, so today I want to talk about back to school shopping.
Last week we took Sesame school shopping at our local Osh’Kosh (store locator)  to check out their #BacktoBGosh sale. We typically do most of our clothing shopping for him online, but since I know that all sizes run differently and he recently had a growth spurt I wanted to make sure we tried things on him. I also wanted him to help me pick out some of his clothes on his own this year. My eyes immediately were drawn to these adorable button up shirts and nice jeans from the#BgoshJeanius section, but Mr. S reminded me that Sesame’s preschool is all about outside play and we want to make sure we send him in clothes that he can run, play, and get dirty in everyday.  I agreed with him, but still snagged the button up on the right because hello picture day.
He’ll still be wearing shorts at the start of the school year because it’s so hot here, but we didn’t want to buy new short, so we tried to focus on comfortable breathable pants and t-shirts. The outfit on the left will be perfect closer to winter and the one on the right is awesome for cooler days this coming fall. It’s also a rainy time of year in Atlanta and the pants and shirt on the right are from Osh’Kosh’s active line. They’re mesh on the inside, which makes them very breathable and we don’t have to worry about him overheating. Oh and did I mention that the shirt on the left glows in the dark? Pretty cool…
Now that Sesame’s getting older we’ve been giving him a bit of say in regards to what he wears. I usually pick a few options and let him choose the final say, but during this shopping trip I let him pick some of the graphic tees all on his own. He’s a huge car fan, so this was his favorite one and when I asked him which one he wanted to take a picture in for the blog it was no surprise that this was first on the list.
Another thing I noticed during our trip was that a lot of the items were easy to mix and match together. I loved this because it means we can make multiple outfits out of each piece we purchased. Remember the Glow in the Dark shirt from the first collage? I paired it here with these really cute joggers. Finally, no trip to Osh’Kosh is complete without a new pair of overalls. We decided to go with the striped ones just to be a bit different and he has plenty of room for growth. I’m thinking these might make a reappearance during our annual pumpkin patch trip as well. Don’t judge me, but I’m totally on the hunt to find similar joggers and overalls without stripes for myself.
Thanks to Osh’Kosh, Sesame is heading back to school in the World’s Best Overalls and items from their new Black, White, and Indigo Collection. Did you know you can help them do the same for other children? They’re currently collecting denim and donations and all denim donated from July 28 through September 16, 2015, will be delivered to local children in need through K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers, while cash donations will be dispersed to local DonorsChoose.org. So, let’s help them give kids a leg up! Donate a new pair of blue jeans or make a cash donation at the register. Details can be found here.
If the Back to School deals weren’t enough to convince you, there’s also a 25% off $30+ purchase coupon now through September 30, 2015. You can shop online or find a store in your area.Â
