Review of L’ovedBaby Nursing Cover

Spread the love

As you all know, I’m a nursing mommy and one of the perks of breastfeeding is the freedom of not having to  make/pack bottles when we’re out running errands. While I am perfectly fine with pulling out my boobies at home and in front of family to feed Baby S, I’m not that comfortable doing it in public. Before Baby S was born I looked up nursing covers. I wanted something cute and comfortable for both of us. I came across several different ones, but when I saw L’ovedbaby’s nursing cover I fell in love. Due to Baby S coming early, I did not have time to order the nursing cover or contact them for a potential review until after he was born. I sent them an email once he latched and they agreed to allow me to review their product for my readers.

Here’s the rundown on the product. The owner of L’ovedbaby, Sharon Oved, came up with the idea for her nursing shawl after realizing she was missing out on things when she would leave the room to nurse her child privately. She wanted to be able to “privately nurse publicly” and used an old bed sheet as a shawl. Eventually, her old bed sheet became the 4-in-1 nursing shawl. It is made from polyester instead of cotton, which makes it more light weight and means it won’t harbor bacteria. The nursing shawl comes in a nice pouch, which makes it easy to transport in a diaper bag or even your purse. The shawl not only functions as a nursing cover, but as a blanket, carseat/stroller/bassinet canopy, and pregnancy poncho. It comes in 7 beautiful colors that unlike other nursing covers aren’t “baby cutesy,” but mommy classy.

A few weeks ago, L’ovedbaby sent me the 4-in-1 nursing shawl in “Show and Tell Caramel,” which I absolutely loved and ironically was the color I was considering purchasing on my own. So far, I’ve had the chance to use the shawl in 3 different places (during a meeting at school, at dinner w/ Mr. S, and shopping at the outlet mall) and I really like it.  My first time using the shawl was during an end of the year meeting for the graduate teaching assistants. All my female classmates thought it was so cute and stylish, and I was able to pay attention during the meeting without having to worry about leaving the room to feed my son. Being able to nurse him kept him quiet and content throughout the meeting, although it took some coaxing to keep him from trying to remove the cover from his face; but he’s used to nursing in the comfort of his own home. One of the mommies at the meeting helped me with that problem, by showing me I could readjust the shawl and remove it from his face once he started nursing. I forgot to have someone take pictures of me that day and when I used it at dinner he didn’t nurse long enough to get one plus we were also eating; so I made sure to have Mr. S take lots of pictures this weekend when we went outlet shopping for my new mommy body wardrobe.

Overall, I love the shawl and I’m glad that I will not miss funny conversations and other family moments this summer when we take Baby S back to the Midwest to see our families. I also plan to use the shawl when I’m away from Baby S to pump discreetly. If you are a nursing mommy or soon to be nursing mommy, I hope you check out L’ovedbaby’s website and their nursing covers. If you’re not a nursing mommy don’t worry they sell a full line of organic cotton clothing for your little one. I’m still deciding what to order Baby S from their line.
