I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while, but I kept forgetting. I figured that since Shop Small Saturday is quickly approaching now is a good time to share. I’m not sure if you remember, but on my 30th birthday I came up with a list of things I wanted to do during my 30th year of life (I didn’t finish them all). One of the things on my list was to support a small business every month, which I did, but of course I didn’t write them all down because I’m forgetful.
Anyway here are a few of the businesses that I’ve already supported and some that are on my list to support in the future.
Whipped Goods is a family owned midwestern business that specializes in natural homemade bath and body products. I decided to purchase their lip scrub and creme and it is seriously the BEST exfoliate and moisturizer I’ve used on my lips to date. Plus, a little goes a long way, so it will last a long time.
Krizzy Designs is a freelance graphic design company. It’s run by Krystyn from Really, Are You Serious? Krystyn designed the logo, blog, and gift certificates for Hook Smart (my etsy shop). She is very helpful and does an excellent job of communicating with you despite how busy her schedule is AND she’s a mompreneur.
Baca Creations is run by Salena Baca, a crochet pattern designer. If you’re looking to get into crochet, her patterns are excellent for beginners. I own almost all of them and they are well-written, plus if you have questions she is awesome about responding right away.
Storybook Journals is an etsy shop that creates notebooks out of golden classic books. Yall know how much I love Beauty and the Beast, so when I saw this notebook I couldn’t wait to watch it. The notebook is a great quality and I had no complaints about shipping. I’m planning to buy a few more of these notebooks soon including one for Sesame since he loves to “write” nowadays.
Kokoa Magazine dubs themselves the magazine for “the real life not the rich one,” but what some people don’t know is they also create websites and help with branding. I met the owner, Kita Bryant, at a blogger event and I’ve been wanting to work with her for awhile, but I was too shy to ask. I built up my confidence recently and we’re in talks to help me not only brand Mamademics, but give the site a facelift as well, so stay tuned for 2015.
Because of Them We Can is run by Eunique Jones and seeks to educate and connect a new generation to heroes who have paved the way. We purchased the coffee table book for our home, so that Sesame will be able to flip through and see “himself” in history. I also purchased the backpack for my writing days and I plan to order a couple of the journals soon. Oh and I want matching t-shirts for the family.
