We’re finally back from vacation and I have so much to share about our trip. I thought I’d start with Sesame’s reaction to his road trip box since that was one of the last posts I shared before vacation. If you haven’t already checked out the video, you can do so here– Toddler Road Trip Box

Overall, this year’s toddler road trip box was a success. Sesame actually walked in while I was filming the initial unboxing video and ended up being disappointed when I told him that he had to wait to open it until we got to the hotel in Detroit. Of course as soon as we got there, he immediately asked to open the box. I didn’t really have a chance to prepare for the video, so the lighting isn’t great and you can hear our candid conversations, but I still wanted to share him opening it.

He played with just about everything in the box during the first leg of our trip and it was awesome for down time during the second leg. I also used the Busy Books to keep him entertained during an impromptu stop at Cracker Barrel when we were experiencing car issues. He used the starfish frequently during car rides and at bed time as cuddle buddies. Aside from his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cars I think they starfish were one of his favorite things. My favorite part was having one contained space for his activities and being able to pull something out to occupy his time during a restless moment.

The box also received rave reviews from my almost five year old nephew, so I think I’ll be making something similar for his birthday. I’m also planning to recycle the materials from the larger box into smaller activity boxes for home. I’ll be sure to record what I put in each activity box and share them with everyone.

Have you made your own toddler box yet? What did you include? If you haven’t made one yet, what theme would you like to see in future activity boxes?
