For as long as I can remember, the holidays meant extreme amounts of family time. It meant time off from school and spending it with my parents, eight younger siblings, and extended family. It meant lots and lots of delicious food and desserts. It meant after Christmas shopping trips with my sisters and marathon movie nights. It meant seeing friends I don’t see during the year because I no longer live back in Michigan.
Now that I’m a wife and mom and I no longer go “home” for the holidays it is still about family, but in a smaller capacity. This year we are starting new traditions and becoming our own family. Since Mr. S is also an educator we both have time off for the holidays and spending time as a family is our number one priority. We will visit a local shopping area that lights tons of trees and take pictures. Oh and of course go shopping 😉 We will experiment with new recipes and have marathon movie days. Lots of family cuddling time will commence.
The holidays will still be all about family and good food…just smaller portions of both 🙂
